The Program
Participation in BFW Online is self-directed, with learners working
through the program at their own pace. Learners interact online
using discussion boards, online chats and email. Individual coaching
takes place via email and the BFW Online 1-800 Number. Assignments
and project work combine online assignments with community involvement
and research.
How much time does it take? One of the best features of the Bridges
for Women Online program is the ability to set your own schedule.
You can work around your other commitments and still find time
to fully participate. To give participants a sense of the time
commitment generally required, you could use the BEP On-site Class
schedule structure as their guide for online pacing. In the class
room program, it is a 2-part, 26 week program. Participants attend
classes Monday to Thursday from 9:00-3:00, with Fridays set aside
for appointments and other important activities.
Curriculum and activities include:
• Personal development skills, communication, assertiveness
training and conflict resolution
• Employment readiness, exploring career options, job search
skills
• Individualized personal support
• Stress management and effective workplace behaviour
• Exploring the impact of abuse on employment-related barriers
For the Bridges for Women Online program, the curriculum is grouped
into an introduction course to the classroom software and then
three online course streams:
FOR NEW STUDENTS: Moodle Features Introduction Course

Your Participation Brings "Life" to the Project
We encourage you to use the online classroom as a place where
you can share ideas and experiences. With your participation,
the program comes to life; we encourage you to share what you
are doing with others.
In the face to face program over the years, we have noticed that
one of the keys to women's success is being able to support each
other in their journey. We have a beautiful tool here to use to
connect - our online classroom. Let's see if we can create those
connections!
